Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician

Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) are responsible for the safe  troubleshooting and repair of various types of heavy mining equipment. This includes Wiggle Wagons, Haul Trucks, Dozers, Graders, & Excavators. The Mechanics will form part of a larger maintenance team strategically working to support the maintenance plan. In addition, the Heavy Duty Mechanics are responsible for promoting the APE Maintenance safety culture, adhering to all Company policy, internal controls and practices, while maintaining the highest level of professionalism.

Primary Responsibilities:

In general, but not limited to:

  • Provide technical diagnosis and perform maintenance on various makes and models of large mining equipment;
  • Provide support to the Shovel teams as needed
  • Ensure work is completed safely and an FLHA is completed at the beginning of every job or when a job changes;
  • Perform equipment maintenance according to OEM, standards, procedures and practices set out by industry and company;
  • Recording information related to maintenance repairs and work completed
  • Communicate updates to supervisor to ensure goals are met;
  • Report all incidents, damage and near misses immediately;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Red Seal/ Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician certification;
  • A minimum of 3 years experience troubleshooting/repairing Wiggle Wagons, Haul Trucks, Dozers, Graders, & Excavators;
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license;
  • CSTS/OSSA/BSO/CSO
  • Fall Arrest, Overhead Crane, Basic Rigging, Aerial Work Platform, WHMIS, Mask fit test
  • Man Basket and Picker Truck training experience would be considered an asset;
  • Proven safety training and exceptional safety record.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a professional maintenance team
