Mechanical Planner

Purpose:
This Position is responsible for accurately estimating the cost of Mechanical projects, work schedules and providing detailed proposals to clients. Your attention to detail and ability to analyze project requirements will be crucial in ensuring the success of our projects.

 

Primary Functions:
In general, but not limited to:

  • Estimate work orders for material, workforce, tools, and equipment requirements
  • Analyze project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor quotes
  • Acquire the Parts needed for preventative and corrective maintenance work orders
  • Creates Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Repair job plans
  • Revise Preventative Maintenance and Corrective Repair job plans based on feedback during execution
  • Prepare detailed proposals and bid packages for submission to clients
  • Lead the Planning and Scheduling Weekly meeting
  • Manage the maintenance backlog by leading review meetings, reviewing new work orders to ensure enough information to proceed with planning, working with the Manager to prioritize and reporting Key Performance Indicators to drive process improvement
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather additional project information
  • Coordinating contract services for weekly routine work
  • Coordinate scheduled jobs into weekly schedules according to workforce, materials, tools, and equipment
  • Distribute the weekly schedule and work packages for all scheduled
  • Close out work orders from the previous weeks’ activities and create follow-up work orders
  • Update Equipment, files, and Bills of materials as required
  • Knowledge of the Heavy Equipment & Mining Industry
  • A strong desire to achieve the very best in customer service and teamwork

 

Critical Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical estimating principles and techniques
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills for accurate cost calculations
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong negotiation skills to obtain competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
  • Strong leadership, planning, budgeting, and problem-solving skills
  • Project management skills to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a heavy industrial setting is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills
  • In-depth knowledge of computer software and applications such as; Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • A valid journeyman HET trade certificate as asset
  • Knowledge in programs such as SIS program and Kamatsu considered and asset

(On-Call as required)

Benefits: Eligible after 90 days
