Journeyman Millwright

The Millwright is an integral member of the Maintenance department and is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting and, when necessary, dismantling various types of pumps, machinery, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems. Work requires practical skill and knowledge and journey-level skill as a Millwright.

Primary Responsibilities:

In general, but not limited to:

  • Maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings and hydraulics;
  • Undertake preventative and predictive maintenance program for equipment.
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to assemble equipment and follow work procedures & processes;
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, diagnose, lubricate, and perform maintenance work on machinery;
  • Recommend solutions to improve maintenance operations. Ensure assigned maintenance projects are completed as scheduled;
  • Ensure work is completed safely and an FLHA is completed at the beginning of every job or when a job changes;
  • Communicate updates to supervisor to ensure goals are met; Report all incidents, damage and near misses immediately;

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Red Seal/ Journeyman Millwright certification;
  • A minimum of 3 years of Millwright experience
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license;
  • CSTS/OSSA/BSO/CSO
  • Fall Arrest, Overhead Crane, Basic Rigging, Aerial Work Platform, WHMIS,
  • Proven safety training and exceptional safety record.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a professional maintenance team
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills • Vibration analysis skills would be an asset
